ORDER OF SERVICE

  • CALL TO WORSHIP
O heavenly Word, Eternal Light, Begotten of the Father’s Might, Who in these latter days are born for succor to a world forlorn. Our hearts enlighten from above and kindle with thine own true love, that we, who hear thy call today, may cast earth’s vanities away. O let us not, for evil past, be driven from thy face at last; but with the blessed evermore behold thee, love thee and adore. Join with us as we praise, honor, and magnify God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit, three in one! Let us adore them with all that is within us.

  • PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Please sit or kneel and pray aloud the words that are printed here.

All: We have great reason, O Lord, to be humbled before you, on account of the coldness and insensibility of our hearts, the disorder and irregularity of our lives, and the prevalence of worldly affections within us. Too often have we indulged the tempers we ought to have subdued and have left our duty unperformed. O Lord, be merciful to us for your Son, Jesus Christ’s sake. Produce in us deep repentance, and a dynamic faith in that Savior who has died for our sins, and risen again for our justification. Amen.

  • ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Amen
